The Parents Meeting Session

4th July 2008

So Darren and I decided to have our parents meeting session at Peach Garden at OCBC Centre. Perched at the 33rd floor, boasting a magnificent evening skyline view of Singapore – thats if you reserved the private dining rooms. But the catch was that to enjoy the nice food with an even nicer view, you must be prepared to spend at least $600. Therefore, we decided a normal table will do. At least, we have the flexibility of going a la carte or taking up the set meal, without forcing ourselves to spend that amount of money.

Dinner reservations were made at 7pm.

The restaurant really had that “executive” look. I guess its the kind of restaurant that bosses like to bring their bosses or clients to. LOL! Anyway, the parents met and it was mostly the Dads doing the talking. The Mums did not converse as much because I think the table is a little too big for conversations to take place comfortably.

We had an 8 course meal. I must say the food is really wonderful! :) And the staff were so attentive and polite, you’d feel that the 10% service charge is worth paying for! This place has indeed been a great choice.

So, through the dinner, the parents got acquainted. At least, if they were to meet up outside, they know that they are going to be a family soon. Haha! My sister was eagerly waiting for the parents to bring up the topic bout the marriage and stuff, which fortunately didn’t happen! ;) I was thinking this meal is really one where they come together and at least get acquainted before ‘getting down to business’.

All well ends well. The evening has been really great.

The restaurant is recommended too for its ambience and really great if you want to hold a dinner at somewhere ‘presentable’. Else, my family and Darren’s family felt its a pretty pricey place.
