Penang Place at International Business Park
Yeah I woke up today feeling like Snow White. No, not because I thought my skin was ultra fair or my hair ultra ebony black. I remembered a part of the story where she ate the poisoned apple, then she slipped into coma, then prince charming kissed her, and then she awoke and puked out that piece of poisoned apple. Well, I felt like I had the poisoned apple gagging me. Just that nothing I do, could remove that clog in my throat. Maybe thats because I awoke from my mother’s grumblings that the sun is toasting my butt rather than from prince charming kissing me. LOL!
So yeah, I had a super sexy voice today. I have no doubt many people might have suspected that I am some kinda transvetite at large. Sounding like a bapok. Haha!
Anyway, I kind of understand what it means to be an adult. It really means, no one gives a damn bout whether you are dead or alive. I mean, here I am dying from reluctant silence and my family are happily talking about eating penang buffet! Come’on, think assam laksa, char kway teow, nasi lemak, kuih kuih, curry chicken etc.. which part of this meal sounds like its for a sick kid like me? But well, I still went along with them.
And since I am already there, I decided to enjoy my stay there.
My GOD! The food was simply heavenly! You have Malaysian style food, which kind of transported me back to my hometown! Their spread is nothing like Shangri-la’s The Line or Oriental’s Melts Cafe. The spread is simple and pretty much ‘peranakan’ styled. With Assam Laksa, Cuttlefish-Kangkong, Nasi Lemak, Curry Chicken, Chicken Soup, Steamed Otah, Beef Rendang, Fruit Rojak, various kuihs, ice kachang, etc etc etc.
The best part is its relatively cheap if you ask me. Weekday Lunch: 19.80++, Weekday Dinner: $21.80. Add $2 for weekends. Please note that it is closed on Sundays. Seriously, if you are located in IBP, you have not much good reasons to open on Sundays!
All food is prepared by Penang chefs. Pretty authentic. Their char kway teow is simply superb! True penang style! Although it is part of the buffet spread, you can place your special order, so that you can have fresh from the wok hot kway teow, or if you prefer more bean sprouts, less cockles, etc etc. It is really great because the staff are very friendly and smiling all the time.
Try their Penang Coffee too! Its not as ‘thick’ as the original Malaysian coffee, but you can taste the butter roasted fragrance and served together with condense milk. You can have it served with ice and it still taste pretty good – ‘kopi peng’!
With all these said and done, I have no doubt my sexy voice would stay longer. But who gives a damn when heavenly food is presented to you? Hey, we got to be thankful right! Lol!
So for a simple, authentic penang food meal, try heading down here. I guess it is more convenient if you drive. Because IBP is not exactly the most accessible place, I think.
