Spring and Pretty Blossoms

January 13, 2009 5 comments

So Spring is approaching yea! I realised Singapore has its own kind of “Spring” too. They do not have colourful sakuras blooming like in Japan or Tulips aplenty like in Holland, but I was looking around at the flora and fauna around us and realised that flowers are gradually starting to bloom – here, there and everywhere.

The bougainvilleas are blooming. The rain trees are blooming. The common plants along the streets are blooming. Maybe not as plentiful as those in other countries and not as picturesque, but seriously flowers are blooming! ;)

And seeing flowers bloom makes me happy. The colours and the vibrancy defines what life is supposed to be. But sadly, blooms are not meant to last. The flowering plants flowers only during certain months of the year, and then it wilts and then it waits for the time of the year to come again before it starts blooming.

With CNY approaching and because its the first CNY at my new address, we did some spring cleaning and decorated the place with flowers. Yeap, they are now about 1 week old and blooming beautifully!! Now, whether it blooms again next year will depend on whether I am a good gardener. LOL!

My Pets

Signing on the dotted lines on the 14th Sep 08 has added many assets to my name. LOL! Including the fluffy white dog below – Astro.

He is a Parson’s Russel Terrier – a cousin of the Jack Russell which means he is an easily excitable dog. He is a pure breed and being three years old this year makes him an adult dog – he is supposed to be handsome now, not cute. haha! Maybe he is going through puberty now, we feel that he has put on significant weight and has an increasingly big appetite. Its a he, therefore he ‘humps’. He barks but he don’t bite.

Other than the dog, we set up a little pond. Water is supposed to be flowing down from the rocks, but the photo doesn’t shows it. *damn* There is a population of 30 fishes, which made up of 5 Torpedoes, 5 Congo Tetra, 10 Rummy Nose, 10 Cardinal Tetras. Again, the photo doesn’t seem to show there’s 30 fishes. *sigh*

And therefore, this is an introduction of all the ‘assets’ under my care – the dog, the husband and the fishes. LOL!
